Une explosion au Japon menace le monde d'une pénurie de couches

Une explosion sur le site d'une importante usine de production de polymères Himeji, dans l'ouest du Japon, fait craindre une pénurie mondiale de couches, a rapporté dimanche 30 septembre le quotidien nippon "Sankei Shimbun".

Un réservoir de l'usine du groupe Nippon Shokubai, qui se trouve dans la préfecture de Hyogo, a explosé samedi, tuant un pompier et en blessant 35 autres.

L'entreprise a une part de marché mondiale de 20% dans les polymères hyperabsorbants entrant dans la composition des couches, et sa production pourrait être durement obérée par l'accident, selon le journal.

L'usine de Himeji produit 320.000 tonnes de polymères par an. Nippon Shokubai préparait une augmentation de sa production pour faire face la hausse de la demande chinoise, ajoute le Sankei Shimbun.
